Well here is the new project what do i talk the mrs in to these things?
STAGE 1:
Since we started looking for a new bug i fell in love with the '60's style. From that point on it was '60's or nothing! (expensive taste!!!!)
So heres the stats:
Its 1967, 1285cc and fully original!
Only done 54187 miles!!!!!!!!!
Its oringal paint colour is savannah beige and that is what is still on it but ratty!!!!!!!
Has never been welded, painted or messed around with!
I have got the original service book with all the stamps and dates of service.
It states the first owners name and address. It is from Canberra ACT from the Gregg Cusac garage LTD who were official VW agents in the area.
It also comes with the maintainence book on how everything works!!
So you wanna see some pics??
Before it came home!
Have you ever seen original floors and heater channels like this???
STAGE 2:
given it a quick coat of shiny laquer just to keep the british weather demon at bay, stripped out the whole inside and cleaned it ant lobbed out all the old stinkin mats and crap,
Taken off the old exhaust as it was knackered and put on a new merged header, ready for its turbo trip back box.
Stripped out all of the old fuel lines and replaced them with new pipes and filters (just in case)
Cleaned it top to bottom again and added a few stickers for that personal touch, oh and not frgetting he new VW deck lid sign.
We also got a ew set of front lights from the CVWOC swop meet on Saturday too..
Next jobs on the list are:
New plugs, leads, dizzy and arm.
New steering wheel and indicator stalk, (old ones are busted )
New wheel cylinders all round and a overhaul on the brakes,
New tyres
Get the front beam off and get them adjusters welded in and drop it!!!!
Well here are a few moe piccys of the WELL MINT floor and heater channels!, all the little rust areas are very slight surface rust and will be sorted wiv a little help from rust killer!!!
STAGE 3:
Front beam removed ready for adjusters!
Got my arse in gear tonight, after work went to South west splitz to get some tools ready for the weekend, then got home, and saw the wheels with the new tyres 145/65 fronts, and 205/65 rears on, couldnt wait to see them on and the bug SLAMMED, so i dropped the rear end, set the adjuster half way, slung on the wheels and >>>>>
Looks wicked and and sits well sweet! Mrs loves it and im happy thats its low, so its a win win in our house!!
I also dropped the engine oil, replace the strainer and gave it some fresh oil, stripped out the old crappy plugs, leads, condensor, points, rotor and cap and put on all new!
got the electrics up and running, and turned the key for thefirst time in may years........... CLUNK WTF ? took out the plugs, bit of WD40 down the barrels and tryed it again, it turned over and pissed out fuel every where, so stripped down the carb, gave it a clean and Voila, it breathed it first breath!!!!! Was running on 3 but it ran.....
Also finnished off the brakes ect, and Ria polished all the chrome bits.. looks Coolio!!
Oh, and got a horn push and center cap for the steering wheel, and got it all wired up and sorted.
Got to get an exhaust bolded on, even though its gonna have to be monza 4 tip for a bit as we are skint, and thats the only thing ive got going spare.
Get it running a bit better then we should be lookin at the finer details for MOT standards!! Sorted......
